CONTEXT
I created this magazine to pay homage to the stories of my parents’ pursuit of their
American Dream.
Like so many Filipino-Americans, I spent my childhood tied between two cultures.
The story of America is the story of immigrants, and yet I didn’t grow up hearing these stories until much later in life. This magazine is for my fellow Filipino-Americans, stuck between generations, cultures, languages, and countries. Our stories deserve to be told.

All imagery was either sourced or created by myself, and pieced together to form a cohesive narrative.

All articles were taken from outside sources, and then edited by myself to fit the needs of the magazine.

Printing, cutting, and binding were handled by myself.
Dad, 1980s
Working abroad in Saudi Arabia, he must have felt homesick and decided to take a picture in front of a Filipino restaurant.
Mama, 1980s
She wanted to be an architect but had to settle for engineering due to tuition costs. She met my dad at one of her early jobs.
